You might not have a word for it yet. That's alright, most people don't.

These are things some people describe. EPSpeak does not track, measure or score them. It helps you notice changes in your voice, movement and wellbeing, and share them with your clinician.

Starting a new medication or living with ongoing symptoms can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming.

  • These side effects have a medical name

Antipsychotic and antidepressant medications are psychiatric medications that can cause movement-related side effects. Collectively these are called extrapyramidal side effects, or EPS.

  • It can start quietly

These changes can start subtly: a slight shaking, or a restlessness that is hard to put into words.

  • Appointments are short

Changes that happen between visits are easy to forget, and hard to describe from memory once you are in the room.

  • Noticing gives you more to work with

When you have noticed and recorded what is changing, you and your care team have more to talk about at your next appointment.

How EPSpeak fits into your day.

A short daily routine on your phone, and a record you can bring to your next appointment.

  • Read a short passage aloud

About 20 to 30 seconds, once a day.

  • Compared with you, not anyone else

Your voice pattern is compared with your own earlier check-ins. It is not compared with other people, and it is not a clinical judgement.

  • Everything runs on your phone

No wearable and no extra device.

  • Sensors on for the check-in only

Your phone's own sensors are used while you check in, and not the rest of the day. Raw sensor data stays on your phone.

  • See the weeks side by side

Voice, movement and wellbeing over time.

  • About the medicine, not about you

Medication information is scored 0 to 4 from published research. It describes the medicine across many people, not a measurement of you.

  • Share only when you choose

Your clinician scans a QR code. Nothing leaves without your choice.

  • No account. No ads.

Free to use, with no sign-up and no advertising. Your data is treated as health data and is never sold.

Is my data secure and protected with EPSpeak?

  • No account, no name

There is no account to create and no login. EPSpeak uses anonymous sign-in with a randomly generated ID, and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts or precise location.

  • Only during your check-in

Recording happens only while you complete your check-in, never in the background. Raw movement data from your phone's sensors never leaves your device.

  • Deleted on a schedule

Voice recordings are deleted from EPSpeak Cloud after 7 days, unless you have enrolled in the pilot study. If you are not enrolled in the pilot study, everything else is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

  • Yours to share

You're in control of your data. You can choose whether to share your information with your trusted clinician.

Breaking the stigma

EPSpeak is on a mission to help reduce the stigma around living with psychiatric medication, including antidepressants and antipsychotics.

We believe people deserve to understand their health, feel comfortable asking questions, and have a voice in conversations about their treatment.

Your health journey is your story. EPSpeak helps you understand it, keep track of it, and share it when you're ready.

What is EPS?

EPS are movement side effects of some antipsychotic and antidepressant medicines: shaking, restlessness, muscle stiffness and slowed movement. Signs, causes and what to do.
